Who We Are
Founded in 1981, the Middle East Outreach Council (MEOC) is a national nonprofit organization working to increase public knowledge about the peoples, places, and cultures of the Middle East, including the Arab world, Israel, Iran, Turkey, and Afghanistan.
MEOC is an entirely volunteer-run organization (we do not have a corporate office or permanent staff). Our target audience is non-specialists at the K-12 and college levels, although its services are also relevant to broader community needs. We have members around the United States.

Board of directors (2025-2026)
MEOC is governed by a Board of Directors, each of whom are elected for a two-year term and may be re-elected once. Elections are held annually each spiring, with the term of office officially beginning at our annual business meeting (usually held in September). MEOC members who have a paid membership level are eligible to vote and run for positions.
